BACK PAIN TREATMENTFind out how Spring Creek Medical can treat your back pain
What Is Back Pain?
Back pain is a very common complaint. Approximately 80% of all Americans will have back pain at least once in their lives. Back pain usually originates from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the spine. Back pain may have a sudden onset or can be chronic pain. Also, it can be constant or intermittent, stay in one place or radiate to other areas. It may be a dull ache or feel like a sharp or piercing or burning sensation. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands as well as the legs or feet and may include symptoms other than just pain. These symptoms may include tingling, weakness or numbness. Did you know that, in the United States, the fifth most common reason for all physician visits is acute low back pain, also known as lumbago? It’s a big problem, and can potentially lead to even more pain. About nine out of ten adults experience back pain at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults have back pain every year. Many factors can be responsible for back pain. Examples include improper sitting or lifting, trauma, overexertion, arthritis, or inherited spinal conditions.
How Do You Treat Back Pain?
There are many management goals when it comes to treating back pain. Some of the main goals are: to achieve a reduction in back pain intensity as rapidly as possible; to restore the patients ability to function in everyday activities; to help the patient cope with residual pain; to assess for side-effects of therapy; and to facilitate the patient’s passage through the healing process to recovery. For many, the goal is to keep the pain to a manageable level to progress with rehabilitation, which then can lead to long-term pain relief. Also, for some people, the goal is to use non-surgical therapies to manage the pain and avoid major surgery, while for others, surgery may be the quickest way to feel better. Not all treatments work for all conditions or for all individuals with the same condition, and many find that they need to try several treatment options to determine what works best for them. At Spring Creek Medical we offer a TEAM approach to treating all types of back pain. We combine an experienced team of doctors and therapists to help each individual find an effective and efficient approach to resolving back pain.
Why Treat Your Back Pain?
At SpringCreek Medical we use a TEAM approach to treat back pain. Relief from back pain can usually be accomplished after just a few visits. However, it often takes an aggressive treatment plan working with a team of doctors and therapists for the best results. Many people live with back pain when there are solutions out there to assist them. They don’t have the time or often think it will just eventually go away. Often times it will keep reoccurring and disrupting a person’s lifestyle. If these problems are never addressed they can easily turn into a more serious problem such as arthritis, sciatica, radiculopathy, neuropathy, spinal degeneration, disc bulge/herniation, and even the constant tension of muscle spasm. All these things can be relieved with our professional care at Spring Creek Medical. We are experts in the care of bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that makeup to 60% of your body. All the joints in your body are part of the musculoskeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for overall good health. Ask our doctors and staff for more information about a care program specific to you. This may include a medical exam, chiropractic care, nutritional advice, physical therapy, massage therapy, exercise recommendations, and other conservative methods of care based on your health history, age, current condition, and lifestyle. We look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals and relieve your back pain!
